Phoenix Athletics Club was formed in 1981 by Matt Paterson and Olympic champion Steve Ovett. It has through time stuck to its core beliefs that by respecting personal ambitions of individuals the club help everyone achieve their potential.

I refer to your assumption that Phoenix Athletic Club was formed in 1981 by Steve Ovett & my younger brother Matt Paterson. It was me that came up with the Phoenix name away back in 1981. I was myself a pretty useful 800/1500m 1.51 and 3.50 and was a member of the first Sussex team to win a National Title i.e. Medley Relay for Brighton A.C.
